SVEWC Organizational Goals - DRAFT Note: These organizational goals can be also advanced through the campaigns that the SVEWC promotes. 1. Add value to existing campaigns and organizations and help with their capacity building, strategic planning, grassroots organizing, net working and more. 2. Improve communication and coordination among allies on the issues and strategies they care about. 3. Educate the public about the selected, priority messages of the SVEWC and the campaigns it supports. Help reframe the issues so that the public and stakeholders better understand the environmental perspective and importance of its messages. 4. Create a sustainable process that will allow the SVEWC to meet the needs of environmental efforts in the Sacramento watershed for many years to come. 5. Improve coordination, strategic planning and communication with the EWC and other bioregional, state and national efforts. 6. Have the following attributes: a. High flexibility. Able to respond to changes and new information. b. High disclosure. Share information so that collaboration and coordination can occur. c. High interaction. Find ways to meet in person and in web space to increase interaction between allies and the understanding that builds trust. Note: On March 9, 2003, forty regional environmental leaders in the watershed met on March 8, 2003 and agreed on 12 goals to advance. They prioritized these goals and associated strategies. |
